Herbarium art preserving nature, back in nature

Sophie of Press Galleria invited me to venture into the mangroves at Sydney Olympic Park with her and her partner Toby to capture a range of her beautiful herbarium artworks. After photographing Sophie’s process and home studio, our second shoot together was crafted to showcase finished pieces amongst one of the places Sophie is often inspired by.

Collecting botanicals on bushwalks, Sophie researches each piece she finds and takes them through an extensive preservation process. These are then sorted, stored, and turned into incredible, detailed botanical artworks ready to hang in the home.

This was a truly special shoot!
