Gabby Malpas for Sydney Contemporary

A humble studio based around form & function

Artist Gabby Malpas commissioned me to photograph her latest body of work to be shown at Sydney Contemporary 2025 with Brenda Colahan Fine Art Gallery. Each totemic work can be assembled in countless ways using any combination of pieces — and so Gabby gave me the reigns to choose what went where during the shoot. This was a flattering and somewhat unnerving proposition to interpret an artist’s work, but one that made for a very fun process and resulted in Gabby receiving a plethora of options for the works’ marketing material. The images shared here are only a glimpse!
